Late-night eating is a rite of passage for most college students. Even if you’re the type who usually budgets your study and social time to avoid all-nighters, there will be a time when you find yourself craving sustenance at midnight or beyond. Never fear: Reasonably priced options for late-night snacks abound in and around Columbus and The Ohio State University. Here are some of our favorites.
Mikey’s Late Night Slice
As the name implies, Mikey’s is all about late-night pizza – the popular food truck doesn’t even open until 7 PM. It’s just half a mile from UNCOMMON Columbus, so you can grab your pie to go, or sit at one of the picnic tables in the airy patio area. Slices start at under $5, and whole pies are under $28, which is a fair price, considering the quality. While we won’t claim that pizza is the healthiest option around, Mikey’s also offers vegan menu items.
Fourth Street Taproom & Kitchen
Fourth Street’s late-night menu is the stuff of student munchie dreams. Loaded tots are $6, and a full meal of chicken tenders and hand-cut fries is just $9. It also features wings (including a vegan version) with a large variety of sauces. While most of the menu leans toward gut-busters, it does offer garlic hummus with fresh veggies and warm pita for those who prefer to keep it light.
Olde Towne Tavern
Olde Towne Tavern’s kitchen runs til 1 AM daily, and while you might think of this as more of an upscale venue, there are some great deals to be had. On Mondays, go for a $5 burger; on Tuesdays, tacos are $2 when you dine in. The rest of the week, choose the ultimate loaded baked potato and get filled up on a giant spud with pulled pork, cheese, and other goodies for only $9.
While you might not want to make it a regular habit, going out for late-night eats is essential to the college experience. For more fun stuff around UNCOMMON Columbus, visit our blog.
